A new restaurant will open its doors in Demopolis, possibly by the end of the year, according to Mayor Mike Grayson.

The city worked out a deal with Burger King to open a new restaurant on Highway 80 across the street from Regions Bank.

“The city was approached by a developer who was interested in the property, and we began negotiating,” Grayson said. “I’m excited to be bringing in new business. I think it’s a positive thing. It’s another piece of the puzzle.”

Grayson said the deal was consummated on Sept. 19 between the city and Patrick Sidhu, who is the owner of the new Burger King.

“They got started quickly, and they’re hoping to be open by the end of the year,” Grayson added. “Every retail business we recruit and retain puts us one step closer to being where we want to be. We want to be the best we can be.”

Construction has already begun at the location with the grading of the land.
