The Demopolis Tigers (2-1, 1-1) will be looking to get back to winning this week as they take to the road for the third consecutive week.

The Tigers will travel to Selma this week to take on the Saints in a region matchup. Last year, the Tigers defeated Selma 42-19 in Demoplis.

“We have to work on getting better in every area and improving as a team,” head coach Tom Causey said. “We’re both 1-1 in the region. We just have to do what it takes to get the job done on Friday. Selma is a good football team, and we have to be ready.”

Demopolis is looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss last week to the Saraland Spartans.

“It’s too early in the week to tell how we’re going to respond, we just have to focus on doing our job at full speed,” Causey said. “We have to improve in all areas as a football team.”

The Tigers will return home next week for the first time since week one.

In the south end of Marengo County this week, the Sweet Water Bulldogs (2-1. 2-0) will host Southern Choctaw High School. The Bulldogs won this matchup 14-8 last season.

Also at home this week will be the Linden Patriots (2-1, 2-0). They will play host to the McIntosh Demons, who they defeated 49-0 last season.

John Essex (0-3, 0-2) is the only other team at home this week. They will be tasked with facing St. Luke’s while looking to earn their first win of the season.

The Hornets lost this matchup last year by a score of 49-8.

Marengo Academy, A.L. Johnson and Marengo High School will be on the road for week four.

The Longhorns will travel to Patrician Academy on Thursday. Marengo Academy (3-0, 2-0) lost to Patrician last season 16-6. The Longhorns will be looking to remain the only undefeated team in Marengo County this week.

The A.L. Johnson Eagles (1-2, 0-2) will look to earn their first region win of the year as they hit the road for J.U. Blacksher.

This game will be important for the Eagles to keep their playoff hopes alive. ALJ defeated Blacksher 24-8 in 2012.

The Marengo Panthers (2-1, 2-0), who snapped a 17-game losing streak two weeks ago, have now won two in a row and are looking to continue building momentum.

The Panthers travel to Fruitdale on Friday to face the Pirates. Last year in Dixons Mills, the Pirates came away with a 35-16 win.
