The Demopolis High School volleyball team split their two road matches this week against area opponents.
On Thursday, the Lady Tigers traveled to Selma to take on the Saints, and fell in five sets (25-16, 22-25, 19-25, 25-14, 15-17).
Head coach Blythe Smith said, even though her team lost, the girls played hard and fought until the end.
She added that Caleb Washington played as well as she ever has.
“Caleb Washington probably had the best game of her career,” Smith said, “and Riley King was the obvious leader on and off the court tonight.”
On Tuesday, Demopolis traveled to Greenville and won in straight sets (25-14, 25-10, 25-3).
The Lady Tigers’ record now stands at 5-3 on the season, with a 2-1 record in the area.
Demopolis will be off next week because of graduation exams, but they will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Thomasville in a tri-match with Thomasville and Linden.
