July unemployment down from June in Marengo County

Marengo County’s unemployment dropped slightly by .2 percent from June to July, according to numbers released Friday.
Marengo’s jobless rate now stands at 8.1 percent, down from 8.3 percent in June. July’s numbers represent 616 county residents out of work.
Statewide, unemployment dropped to 6.3 percent, down from 6.5 percent in May. This is well below July 2012’s rate of 7.6 percent.
Counties with the lowest unemployment were Shelby at 4.2 percent, Baldwin at 5.3 percent and Cullman at 5.4 percent.
Counties with the highest unemployment were Wilcox at 16.3 percent, Perry at 14.7 percent and Dallas at 14.4 percent.
