Girls Scouts will host STEM Day for Girls on Aug. 12 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Theo Ratliff Center’s gymnasium.
STEM is a one-day program for girls ages 5-13. During the program, girls learn about how exciting science, technology, engineering and math can be and the ways that these fields can be applied in every day life.
Girls ages 5-8 will participate in educational hands on activities that show that technology and science is fun and applicable in daily life.
Girls ages 9-13 will participate in Girls Go Tech activities that stress the importance of technology in today’s working world. Girls Go Tech teaches girls about finances, computers and how technology will be an integral part of their every day life in the work force.
The cost for regular and non-regular Girl Scouts is $5, and non-Girl Scouts must pay a $15 Girl Scout membership fee which will allow participation in programs for the rest of the year.
The deadline for registration is Monday, Aug. 5. Contact Cortnie Draper at 205-523-0931 or cmorrow@girlscoutsnca.org for more info.
