Demopolis BOE approves fiscal year 2012 audit

The Demopolis City Schools Board of Education met Friday morning and approved the 2012 fiscal year audit from Mason and Gardner.
There were no incidences and no material weaknesses to be reported in the audit. There were no matters reported for the financial statement audit or the major federal award programs audit.
The board’s assets increased by $1,027,130 in the 2012 fiscal year as well.
The board also approved owner and architect agreement and certification of compliance with McKee and Associates for renovations in the IT department.
These renovations come as part of the technology upgrades, and they will allow the space for the new servers coming into the IT department for the system.
In other business, the board approved the following personnel recommendations:
•Resignation of Cindy Keasler as Assistant Child Nutrition Program Manager at Westside Elementary School
•Post Assistant CNP Manager position at Westside for 14 days
•Resignation of Keith Jackson as science teacher at Demopolis High School
Superintendent Dr. Al Griffin said Jackson has accepted an assistant principal position in Thomasville.
•Post DHS science teacher position for 14 days
•Transfer Cynthia Murphy from U.S. Jones CNP worker to Demopolis Middle School CNP Assistant Manager
•Transfer Paula Price from DMS CNP worker to USJ CNP worker
•Employ Reginald Atkins as CNP worker at DMS
•Employ Anita Rowser as CNP worker at DHS
•Employ Willie Horton as CNP worker at DHS
•Grant leave of absence to Karen Kerby for the 2013-14 school year
•Post DHS math position for 14 days
•Employ Candace Pitts as DHS ACCESS Lab facilitator
In other business, the board also approved out-of-state travel, pending funding, for Kelly Gandy and Adam Sealy to attend the National Academy Foundation convention in Orlando, Fla., on July 9-13. The conference will help enhance a series of classes at DHS that teaches students about accounting, financing and other life skills.
