The Demopolis High School baseball team ended their 2013 campaign by dropping a three-game series to the Valley High School Rams in the first round of the playoffs.
The Tigers won the first game of the series in a 9-8 thriller on Friday night.
In Saturday’s double-header, the Rams got the best of the Tigers in both games. Demopolis fell to Valley in the second game of the series by a score of 3-1, and in the third game by a score of 8-6.
Eight players from this year’s team were seniors and will not be back next season. Mason Rogers, Walker Davis, Josh Mangum, Wesley Anderson, Will Tucker, Devin Stroud, Brock Montgomery and Tyler Charleston all contributed significantly to the success of the team. Charleston sat out the entire season after an injury in the first week of the season, but was in the dugout supporting the team throughout the season.
The team finished the season with a 23-8 record overall, and a 5-0 record in their area to give them the area title.
