Demopolis Middle School held their Hoops for the Heart event Friday and raised more than $7,300 for the American Heart Association.
DMS coach Jesse Bell said all of the children had a good time playing basketball during the event on the five hoops that were set up in the gym.
“Everything went great,” he said. “The kids did a fantastic job raising money and they had a wonderful time during the event. It was a full day of fun and shooting basketball.”
Throughout the day, there were four-on-four basketball games and three-point competitions for the students to participate in.
Last year, the school raised more than $9,000, but Bell was still pleased with the results.
“It was a good way to send the students into spring break,” Bell said.
