GREENSBORO-What was suppose to be the Hale County Commission Meeting, normally held once a month on Mondays at 6 p.m. turned into a game of no-show and uh oh.
There was more spectators and media personalities there than commissioners, as the room started to fill up with people excepting to hear the answers to some of Hale Counties problems. As the time started to inch slowly towards the starting time of 6 p.m., only two commissioners had showed up Walter Allen and Joe Lee Hamilton, with no word from the other three commissioners Yolanda Watkins, Lois Fields, and Probate Judge Leland Avery.
With about two minutes before the start of the meeting, still only two commissioners were present and they had just received a phone call from Avery saying his car had broken down and he wasn’t going to be able to make it to the meeting.
So once the start time had come and gone, there was nothing left to do but to declare the meeting a no go due to not enough members available to have a quorum.
