The Demopolis Public Library added two assistants in recently, bringing in Joyce Wilson-Grant and Kayla Harris.
Both have local ties and are excited to be working at the library.
“We moved here last January,” said Wilson-Grant. “My husband and I came here from Palm Coast, Fla., and we moved there from Miami. We came back here because my mom passed in 2008, and all of our family came back here.”
Wilson-Grant worked for a magazine company in Palm Coast, handling subscription orders and accounts.
“It’s nice,” she said of coming back home. “It’s changed a little, but it’s still nice. I used to visit all the time in the summer. We came back in 2007 for my sister-in-law’s baby shower.”
Harris is a native of Uniontown and is a junior at the University of West Alabama, and is majoring in math.
“I would like to become a math teacher and help the students at my (former) school,” she said.
Harris said she loves to travel and would like to go “everywhere I could think of going.” She said she applied for the job at the library and another job elsewhere to help her while she is in school.
“Someone told me to go to the library, and introduce myself, and I met Morgan (Grimes, the director),” Harris said. “I kept bothering Morgan, and she went ahead and finally hired me. I absolutely love it. I believe that God has sent me here.”
