Ann Parsons has made a name for herself in decorating Christmas trees. It’s something she has always enjoyed doing, and in decorating the numerous trees at The Mustard Seed, it has become something of a signature item.

“We start in September here (at the store),” she said. “This year, we had six decorated trees. I also help with the trees at the Civic Center.”

Parsons works with The Mustard Seed’s ornaments that are sold there as well as the toppers that the store has for sale.

“I put up two trees at my house, too,” she said. “I’ve always loved it! Everything except fluffing the tree — and lights. Some of them are pre-lit, but the rest of them, I put lights on.

“My tree at home is 9 feet tall, and it has 1,200 lights on it. There is an extension cord that goes up the back of the tree that has three separate plugs.”

Parsons said she has collected glass ornaments like those made by Christopher Radko as well as the old family ornaments, including one that belonged to her grandmother.

The post-holiday clean-up is easy. All of the trees — at her house and her work — are artificial, so once the holiday is done, she puts them in boxes and stores them until it is time to start decorating again.

A big part of Christmas is the decorations put on the tree. For Ann Parsons, that has become a specialty from something she has always enjoyed doing.
