David Rimel Freeman, age 72 of Demopolis passed away unexpectedly at the age of 72 on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025. He was born Nov. 4, 1952 to the late Rimel and Melba Freeman.
He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Mary Beth Freeman; daughter, Kelley Mullins (Michael); granddaughter, Caroline Mullins; brother, Randy Freeman (Anne); nephews, Mark Freeman and Scot (Anna) Freeman; and many great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Dana Pettis Freeman.
An avid outdoorsman, David grew up hunting, fishing, and playing sports. He was a lifelong Alabama fan. He continued his love of the outdoors by working in the timber business for almost 50 years. Well known in the timber business, David took pride in his job and his word was always his bond. His faith and love for his family and friends drove his happiness and zest for life. His motto was that you only need three things in life — good music, a good place to get barbeque and a good set of tires. He had a love of music and used his talent to sing in his church choir and entertain his family and friends. He believed that the glass was always half full and life was too short to not have a good time.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Demopolis with Reverend John Woodrow officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Woody Collins, John Russell, Bill Meador, David Wright, Terry Randall, Bill Mason, Don Moore, his 505 Group, The Methodist Men’s Coffee Class, The Methodist Men’s Club and the Methodist Chancel Choir.
