Demopolis City Schools will be having a virtual learning day for Friday, Jan. 10, due to the threat of inclement weather.

The school district issued the following statement:

“After careful consideration and out of an abundance of caution, Dr. (Bobby) Hathcock has made the decision to hold a Virtual/E-Learning day tomorrow,” said Meggin Mayben, Public Relations Director. “Due to the threat of freezing road conditions in the morning, and out of an abundance of caution, DCS will conduct a Virtual/E- Learning Day tomorrow, Friday, January 10. Weather forecasts for Friday are showing that Demopolis and Marengo County could experience a period of icing on Friday most likely before 8 a.m. It is unclear what kind of travel impacts the area could receive, but if any frozen precipitation could stick, it could possibly cause slick spots on roadways particularly bridges and overpasses.

NWS meteorologists are expecting temperatures to warm throughout the day Friday, as the frozen precipitation would change all to a cold rain as temperatures could stay above freezing.
