The Demopolis Police Department will be open for next couple of nights as a warming station for those who do not have access to heat, as temperatures will dip well below freezing.

Demopolis Police Chief Rex Flowers said that they will be allowing residents to stay in the lobby area for the night if they need it during the cold weather.

“Our lobby area is open during the day, so we are just allowing those who need a warm place to stay temporarily to come and stay here,” Flowers said. “If they will need more than a couple of nights, we will work with the ministerial association to arrange for them a place to stay.”

Flowers said any residents who need to stay are asked to call (334) 289-3072 for a supervisor to assist you. He said there is access to a restroom in the lobby for those who are needing a place to stay.

“This is something we try to do as a service to the community,” Flowers said.
