William Gregory ‘Bill’ Glass

William Gregory (Bill) Glass, age 79, passed peacefully at his home in Linden on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024. Bill is survived by his wife, Jane Glass; daughter, Heather Stephens; son, Joshua Glass (Lauren); grandchildren, Luke Stephens, Owen Glass, Mason Cameron, Hannah Stephens Kennedy (Michael), and Wil Stephens (Caroline); 2 great grandsons; a brother, Chuck Glass (Barbara) along with many nieces, one nephew, and much-loved extended family and friends.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, W.T “Noodie” Glass and Muriel Green Glass; sister, Brenda Ray (Jerry); brother, Don Glass (Jackie); son-in-law, Todd Stephens; and the mother of his children, Gwyn Dennis Glass.

Bill, a native of Marengo County, graduated from Linden High School in 1963, where he played football for the Linden Red Devils. Bill worked in construction and traveled the world before returning to Marengo County where he began working at MacMillan Bloedel in Pine Hill, Alabama for many years before retiring. He made many friendships there that he cherished until his passing. Bill was a member of Linden Baptist Church.

Bill enjoyed antique pickin, automobile restoration, watching racing and especially PBR bull riding. His grandchildren were his favorite entertainment.

Bill’s family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to all that have been a part of his life, his care and who have lifted him and the family in prayer. A special thank you to The Cancer Center and staff in Demopolis, Alabama, Legacy Hospice, Jenny Miller and Sandy Reed. The memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024 at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden, Alabama with Scotty Downey officiating.

The Glass family is requesting for memorials to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center or Pecan Grove Prep PTA in Linden.
