Gaineswood ready for holiday events

Gaineswood National Historic Site in Demopolis is bringing the Christmas cheer throughout the entire Christmas season as they will have its annual “Trees of Gaineswood Speak” through November and December.
The event, which began Nov. 7, will continue throughout the month of December. It allows visitors to the grounds of the historic site to tour the home for uniquely decorated for Christmas. Trees and other holiday decorations have filled the rooms.
Guests wishing to tour the home may do so Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
During the Christmas season, Gaineswood is also partnering with The Cedars Farmhouse, which is also hosting its Glitter & Glow at The Cedars Thursday through Saturday from Nov. 29 through Dec. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. each night it is open.
For Christmas on the River, Gaineswood is also two special events. The first is on Friday, Dec. 6. The annual Gaineswood Christmas Candlelight Tour will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is only $5.
The Cedars are also partnering with Gaineswood during Christmas on the River. On Friday, Dec. 6, for one night only, anyone can take the Gaineswood Candlelight Tour, enjoy the Glitter & Glow at The Cedars and take an exclusive tour of The Cedars Whitfield family farmhouse, which will also be decorated for Christmas.
Tickets for this partnered event are $20 and must be purchased at Gaineswood. All proceeds will go toward Gaineswood. The Cedars will also extend its hours to 10 p.m. on that night.
The other event for Christmas on the River is on Saturday, Dec. 7, as Gaineswood will have a full-guided tour titled “Trees of Gaineswood Speak.” Hours for the tour will be from 1-6 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Refreshments and free crafts for children will be available.
