“I am so excited to win this award for the emerging small business in the state of Alabama,” Anderson said in a video at the awards luncheon. “We are so honored every day to serve the citizens of Demopolis and surrounding communities. This award really captures the essence of what we do, the whole effort that my staff does and the care that we provide in the community.”

With a focus on wellness, prevention, and the management of chronic conditions, Anderson Family Care strives to help patients live their healthiest lives. The practice’s patient-centered approach emphasizes education, timely access to care, and a strong partnership between patients and providers.

In addition to its commitment to individualized care, Anderson Family Care plays an active role in addressing healthcare disparities in Alabama’s Black Belt, working with local leaders and organizations to promote better health outcomes for the community.

Anderson Family Care is also focused on the future of healthcare, offering opportunities for students interested in the medical field while staying informed about advances in science and medicine to ensure the best care for patients.

The event highlighted the vital role small businesses play in the state’s economy by making up 99.4% of businesses in Alabama.

“BCA is dedicated to supporting businesses of all sizes, but we recognize that small businesses play a vital role in shaping the fabric of Alabama. Their contributions not only drive our economy but also foster community spirit and connection. The Alabama Small Business of the Year Awards celebrate the incredible impact these businesses have, showcasing their resilience, passion, and commitment to their communities,” said BCA President and CEO Helena Duncan. “Local businesses are the backbone of Alabama, and they truly deserve recognition and celebration every day.”

Local chambers of commerce across the state submitted nominations for the Alabama Small Business of the Year Awards. The finalists were evaluated by a panel of out-of-state judges based on each business’s community involvement, chamber participation, business success, and overall deservedness.

“As we shine a spotlight on this year’s Small Business of the Year Award winners, we are reminded that small businesses are the driving force behind a successful and resilient state economy,” said Paige Hutto, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama. “All of the nominees, finalist, and winners are stewards of their community and our state. Their dedication to elevating communities throughout Alabama is evident in all that they do and for that we are all grateful.”

This year’s awards featured four categories: Emerging Small Business (in operation less than five years), 1-10 Employees, 11-50 Employees, and 51-100 Employees. Each category had a bronze, silver, and gold winner.
