GivingTuesday takes place Tuesday, Dec. 3, and is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
The Demopolis City Schools Foundation would like to thank Demopolis Mayor Woody Collins for proclaiming next Tuesday as Giving Tuesday for the City of Demopolis.
The proclamation encourages citizens “to join together to give back to the community in any way that is personally meaningful.”
“The Demopolis City Schools Foundation is another example of a project that sets Demopolis apart from other communities,” Collins stated in the proclamation. “The generosity and volunteer spirit that exists in Demopolis is, in my opinion, equal to no other in Alabama. Congratulations to the Foundation on another successful year and I certainly hope that everyone will participate in Giving Tuesday.”
This Giving Tuesday, The Demopolis City Schools Foundation encourages residents to become part of the “Demopolis Difference.” The foundation has a goal to raise $7,000 this year, and you can help meet and exceed that challenge by making a difference in all Demopolis classrooms. Donations given during the Giving Tuesday event go toward the foundation’s classroom grants program.
“Robertson Banking Company is excited to announce that we will match all Giving Tuesday donations, up to $5,000,” said Peter Michael Reynolds, Robertson Banking Company Executive Vice President. “We encourage you to support the Demopolis City Schools Foundation on December 3rd and show your commitment to our local schools. Together, we can make a difference”
The foundation has provided an easy way to take advantage of this challenge on Tuesday, Dec. 3, by donating online at www.demopolis.org under the “Giving Tuesday” tab or you can scan the QR on its Facebook post. Additionally, any checks mailed by Dec. 5 will be counted in the match as well.
“We want to thank all of our donors for their gracious support and continued commitment to the Demopolis Difference; without you our mission would not be possible,” said Margaret Anne Gilchrist, executive director of the Demopolis City Schools Foundation. “By supporting the foundation, you are helping provide grants that encourage excellence, creativity and innovation in our classrooms. As a parent in our school system, but also as the director, I see firsthand the positive impact our grants have on the students and our schools. We would like to also thank Mayor Collins for his support and encouraging our city to participate in Giving Tuesday and Robertson Bank for their generosity to match donations.”
