Demopolis volleyball (16-14) secured the top seed and right to host the area volleyball tournament, thumping Jemison at home in three straight sets (25-12, 25-10, 25-15) Tuesday night.
The Tigers are 5-1 in area play this season, with a two-game series split with Montevallo as their only loss.
The area tournament will be held Wednesday at the Demopolis gym where the Tigers are unbeaten this season.
In a tune up game for Tuesday’s key area match, the Tigers Monday night beat Bibb County in straight sets (25-15, 25-14, 25-13). Monday night was also Senior Night, and the team honored its two graduating teammates, Sarah Helms and Jodie Card.
Demopolis had little time to celebrate its area win or its seniors and hit the road Thursday for a tri-match against University Charter School and Pickens Academy in Livingston.
Demopolis beat Pickens in straight sets (25-20, 25-13) but fell 11-25, 20-25, to UCS.
