The following local church and religious events are coming up:

  • Friendship Baptist Church of Demopolis, where the Rev. Patrick Simmons is the pastor, invites you to fellowship in the first Youth Day Program on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Joe Webb will be the guest speaker. He is from New Generation Church in Eutaw. Greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
  • First Baptist Church of Thomaston will have its fifth annual pastor’s anniversary celebration honoring the Rev. Dr. Timothy Thurman Sr. and First Lady Lashanna Thurman on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 1:30 p.m.. The theme is “Giving Thanks For You” based on 1 Thessalonians 1:2. The Rev. Curtis Rembert will be the pulpit conductor. The Rev. Carlton Hogue, pastor of the New Greater First Baptist in Thomasville is the guest minister. The church is located at 597 Chestnut Street in Thomaston.
  • The Gin Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Gilbertown would like to invite each and everyone to our annual Church Anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. Our pastor, Rev. Dr. Lewis Jefferson, will bring the message of the day. Please join the celebration with us.
  • Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gallion will celebrate its 157th church anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. Pastor is the Rev. Willie Smith and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Timothy Thurman, pastor of Hope Hill Baptist Church in Dayton and First Baptist Church in Thomaston. Come one, come all and celebrate this glorious occasion.
  • Mrs. Patty Garvin, the Operation: Christmas Child Coordinator for West Alabama, will be speaking at Providence Baptist Church on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. Patty recently returned from Kenya where she participated with Samaritan’s Purse in delivering shoe boxes. All area churches are invited to attend. Please come to learn more about how this ministry shares the gospel of Jesus Christ. Refreshments will be served.
  • Saint Paul Baptist Church invites the public to be a part of its Sunday worship. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Jeffery D. Webb is the Pastor. Saint Paul Baptist Church is located at 1809 Old Springhill Road in Demopolis. 
  • Mount Olive Baptist Church will be hosting grief classes every second Monday of each month. Phillip White is the Pastor. The church is located at 12024 U.S. Highway 80 in Gallion.
  • The Christian Chapel Baptist church family welcomes you to join us in worshiping Christ. On Sundays, Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. Morning worship begins at 10 a.m. On Wednesdays, Bible Study begins at 6 p.m. New members classes are held on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Wednesdays at 5 p.m.
  • Friendship Baptist Church on Highway 80 East in Demopolis would like to welcome everyone to fellowship with them on Sundays. Sunday School begins at 9:15 a.m., and morning worship begins at 10:15 a.m. The Rev. Patrick Simmons is the Pastor.
  • Eastern Star Baptist Church on 701 Third Avenue welcomes everyone to join them on Sundays at 9:30 am for Sunday School, and morning worship at 10:30 am. The Rev. Terry L. Gosa is the Pastor.
