Linden BOE meeting

The Linden City Board of Education will hold a called meeting on Thursday, August 1, in the board meeting room, located on the ground floor of the Central Office, at 10 a.m.

Demopolis Middle School schedule pickup

Demopolis MIddle School will have registration and schedule pickup for eighth grade students from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 1. Seventh grade registration and school pickup is Thursday, August 1, from noon to 2 p.m. Sixth grade open house is Friday, August 2, from 8-11:30 a.m.

Kinfolk

The After Hours Book Club will present “Kinfolk,” a book by Sean Dietrich, on August 1 at 5:15 p.m. at the Demopolis Public Library.

Farmer’s Market

The Main Street Demopolis Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon downtown in Public Square. There will also be food, fun, fresh vegetables and homemade foods. For more information or to sign up, contact Rhae at 601-917-8661.

BBS Band at River City Soul

The BBS Band will perform from 6-9 p.m. Saturday, August 3, at River City Soul.

Demopolis City Schools Open House/Meet the Teacher

Demopolis City Schools’ elementary schools will have an open house/meet the teacher on Monday, August 5. The event at US Jones Elementary School will be from 9-11 a.m. Events at Westside Elementary include mandatory pre-k orientation for girls at 11 a.m. and for boys at noon and open house for all grades from 1-3 p.m.

Demopolis High School schedule pickup/freshman forum

Demopolis High School will have schedule pickup for grades 10-12 on Monday, August 5 and a freshman forum on Tuesday, August 6. Junior and seniors can pickup schedules Monday from 9-11 a.m. in the school cafeteria while 10th grade pickup is Monday from 1-3 p.m. in the cafeteria. The freshman forum will be Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. in the school auditorium.

Linden City Schools Open House

Linden City Schools will have its open house on Monday, August 5, from 3-5 p.m. Parents and guardians can meet the principal, teachers and bus drivers, visit classrooms, receive information, complete school registration, purchase locker rentals, pick up schedules, drop off school supplies and ask questions about the upcoming school year.

IRS Community Assistance Visit

The Internal Revenue Service will have a community assistance visit providing a temporary tax assistance center Tuesday-Thursday, August 6-8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Thomasville City Hall/civic center. For appointments, call 615-250-5328.

Demopolis National Night Out

The Demopolis Police Department will hold its National Night Out Event on August 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. on George Franks Field at the Demopolis City Landing. The purpose of National Night Out is to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.  There will be free food, refreshments, music, bouncy houses, mechanical bull and a mobile game room. Please come join us in giving crime a going away party.

Pony Classes

Pony classes for ages 3-12 and ages 13-19 will be held at Fitzhugh Performance Horses in Gallion. The 13-19 class will be August 1 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.The class will dive deeper into horse riding and horsemanship. The first class will be about the anatomy of a horse and why it’s important to know it. Ride together as a group and see the difference between western and English riding. Cost of the class is $20 per youth. The 3-12 pony class will be August 6 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. It will feature horseback riding and painting. The cost is $20 per person. Demopolis Tiger Night

The Demopolis High School football program will have its Tiger Night Tuesday, August 13, at 6 p.m. at Tiger Stadium. Athletes will be introduced, and there will be an open scrimmage to follow. Admission is free.
