The Demopolis Food Pantry recent received a donation to help further its mission in the community.
Demopolis Trustmark presented this check to the mission, which is an ecumenical ministry of many different churches within the city.
The Food Pantry is operated out of the former Jewish temple, property which is now owned by Trinity Episcopal Church.
There is a weekly distribution of food on Wednesday mornings from 6:30-8:30 a.m. Those receiving assistance from the Food Pantry qualify on a yearly basis in the month of September. The Food Pantry currently serves approximately 200 people each week. Food is purchased from the West Alabama Food Bank or provided through food drives organized in area churches. If you are interested in helping the Food Pantry, you can stretch your gift even more by providing a monetary gift. The Food Pantry has access to special bulk purchase prices through the U.S. Department of Agriculture — meaning it can purchase food at a much lower cost than the average consumer.
Donations can be made to: Demopolis Food Pantry, P.O. Box 560, Demopolis, AL 36732.
