Fred Ridener Brown Jr., age 88, of Linden died June 30, 2024 DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.  He was born June 16, 1936 in Adamsville to Fred Ridener Brown Sr. and Ollie Mullins Brown. He was the owner operator of Brown’s Discount Drugs in Linden until he retired in 2000. He was a member of Linden Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Wilda Taylor Brown; two sons, Kyle Ashley Brown and Kevin Brown (Deborah); grandchild, Kea Calame (Lee); and two great-grandchildren, Maggie Calame and Kylie Calame.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred Ridener Brown Sr. and Ollie Mullins Brown; and sister, Doris Davis of Jeanette, Pennsylvania.

Fred met Wilda while he was a student at Samford University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in 1958. The couple was married on June 5, 1958. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago.

Fred loved outdoor activities, especially fishing with Wilda. Fellowshipping with their friends and neighbors on Ellis Island in Camden was also a favorite pastime. He was an avid Crimson Tide fan and a long standing Tide Pride member.

Memorial services were held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Tony Antonelli and Bro. Troy Henderson officiating.  Burial followed at Demopolis Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to especially thank Jackie Shields, John Morris and Charlotte Harrison for their friendship, help and support.
