Farmer’s Market

The Main Street Demopolis Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon downtown in Public Square.There will be music, food, fun, fresh vegetables and homemade foods. For more information or to sign up, contact Rhae at 601-917-8661.

Bingo at the Library

The Demopolis Public Library will host a bingo program at the library at 2 p.m. June 20.

Free screening

The Urology Health Foundation will be holding a free prostate cancer screening in Linden on June 22 for men 40 years of age and older from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Marengo County Health Department on 303 Industrial Drive in Linden. No appointments are needed. Early detection and treatment are key factors in addressing prostate cancer. That is why on Saturday, June 22, 2024 men are encouraged to come to the Marengo County Health Department to be screened. Juneteenth Celebration

The Essex House South, located at 70 Essex Drive in the former John Essex High School, will have a Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 22, from noon to 7 p.m. The event will include music, entertainment, educational opportunities, food, vendors and more. Hearing clinics

The University of Alabama’s  Department of Communicative Disorders’s “Hear Here Alabama” project invites residents over the age of 18 to participate in a research study about increasing access to hearing healthcare in rural areas of Alabama. As part of the study, you will be given a free hearing screening and be asked questions about your health. Testing will take place at Papa’s Foods, 306 S Main Street, Linden: Tuesday, June 25th, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and Theo Ratliff Activity Center, 306 1st Avenue, Demopolis: Thursday, June 27th, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The study will take about 30 minutes to complete. For completing the study, you will be given a $10 gift card. For more information or to make an appointment call 205-348-4265.

The Villa

The After Hours Book Club will present “The Villa” a book by Rachel Hawkins on June 27 at 5:15 p.m. at the Demopolis Public Library. 

Linden BBQ Cook Off 

The Linden BBQ Cook-Off will be June 28 at Chilly Fest Park.  For more information call Kelly Anthony at 334-422-3004. Applications can be picked up at City Hall.

4-H Day Camps

The Marengo County 4-H Summer Camps will be July 9-10 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Marengo County Extension Office. The Art Camp is July 9  and costs $15 while the Top Chef Camp is July 10 with a $10 cost. The camp is for ages 9-18. For more information or to sign up, please call 334-295-5959.
