The Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that Sarah Helms, a student from Demopolis High School, has been sponsored to participate in the Huntingdon College Economic and Community Development Scholars Program.
This esteemed program will be held on the Huntingdon College campus in Montgomery on July 15-16.
Helms, who is a rising senior at Demopolis High School, has demonstrated remarkable leadership and commitment to her community. Over the past year, she has served as a DACC junior ambassador, was awarded the 2023 youth volunteer of the year and continues to serve her community by working with the Christmas on the River Day Parade. She is the daughter of Kelly and Jennifer Helms.
“We are super proud of Sarah and excited to see her represent our community at such a prestigious event,” said Monica M. King, executive director of the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce.
The program, which gathers students from around Alabama, was designed to foster the next generation of leaders in economic and community development. Helms will engage with state leaders, development officials and other young professionals over the two-day event.
