76-year-old dies in crash

A 76-year-old man died Thursday following a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer on Alabama 183.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the victim was identified as Thomas R. Long, 76, of Uniontown. The crash occurred at 10:25 a.m. Thursday, May 9, on Alabama 183 at the 11 mile marker, which is 11 miles north of Uniontown.
Long, 76, was driving a 2014 Subaru Outback when the vehicle collided head-on with the 2021 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Ronnie A. Tompkins, 46, of Jemison. Long was pronounced deceased at the scene.
State troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate the crash.
