The Marengo County Sheriff’s Department has charged a Hale County man with murder following an incident in Gallion Sunday afternoon.
According to a statement from Marengo County Sheriff Robert Alston Jr., the suspect was identified as Kendall Jai Cole, 38, of Bell Drive in Gallion. Cole was arrested April 7 and charged with murder. On Monday, Cole’s bond was set at $750,000, and he is currently still in jail.
Around 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7, deputies were dispatched to Laketa Drive in Gallion for a disturbance.
“On arrival, Investigator Hinton was informed by some family and friends of the victim that a black male by the name of Kendall Cole had assaulted the victim, and she was at the hospital in critical condition,” Alston said in the release. “With very little information, Investigator Hinton allowed the suspect to go until he was able to gather more information. After arriving at the hospital and getting statements from medical personnel, Investigator Hinton was able to gather enough probable cause to make an arrest on Kendall Cole.”
Since Cole’s residence is in Hale County, The Marengo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Hale County Sheriff Office. Authorities arrested Cole without incident and was taken to the Marengo County Sheriff’s Detention Center.
