During the Feb. 21 Demopolis Board of Education meeting, two Demopolis High School (DHS) athletes were recognized for recent athletic accomplishments.
Ashton Moorer, a DHS senior, was recognized for receiving the Tre Jones Memorial Scholarship from the Marengo Sports Hall of Fame. The Tre Jones Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from a school in Marengo County, and is selected by a committee appointed by the principal of the chosen school. The scholarship is for $1,000.
Moorer has been a varsity cheerleader for the past four years, and has been a member of the volleyball team, and a varsity softball player for the past six years.
Charlie Grace Card was recognized about a year ago for getting a perfect score on the reading portion of her ACT. Card was recognized at the February meeting for being honored by WTOK as the All-Scholastics Scholar Athlete.
Card plays three different sports at DHS in soccer, volleyball, and cross country.
