On Dec. 3, 2023, the Wallace Community College (WCC) Demopolis campus and the newly opened West Alabama Training Center received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The decision was made by the Board of Trustees of the SACSCOC.
According to a press release from Wallace Community College, WCC has gained its accreditation is a strong testament to its dedication to maintaining academic excellence, continuous improvement, and compliance with the highest higher education standards. The accreditation process conducted by SACSCOC is a rigorous evaluation that assesses institutions based on various criteria such as their mission statement and integrity, support and learning for the students, resources, and leadership and governance.
Dr. James M. Mitchell, WCC president, expressed gratitude for the hard work and dedication of the entire WCC community.
“This accreditation reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students to maintaining a high standard of education,” Mitchell said. “It validates our commitment to providing quality education and fostering a supportive learning environment.”
