Dan Brooks Burnett, age 71, of Demopolis died on Dec. 11 at Hospice of West Alabama. Services were held on Dec. 16 with Brother Matt Kelley officiating at Christian Valley Church in Coatopa Alabama. Burial followed at Brewersville Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jabe Brooks and Susie Dunn Burnett. Survivors include wife, Lona Kaye Burnett of Demopolis; sons, David Looney (Tina), Jeff Acton (Barbara); grandchildren, Shayna Looney, Justin Acton, Kevin Acton, Katie Abernathy (Blake), Jeff Folsom, Brad Hale (Erin), Josh Hale, Brandon Hale, and Tyler Hale (Shawna); great grandchildren, Lily, Kennedy, Millie, Wyatt, and Natalie; sisters include, Linda Jones, Pat Billings, twin Jan Bryan (Bubba) and brother, Kerry Burnett. Numerous nieces and nephews that were the light of his life and numerous friends.
Dan spent 47 years as a professional truck driver and owner operator. He never met a stranger and was always happy, smiling and the life of the party. When not on the road he loved spending
time with his family, watching Alabama football and going to the mountains.
How do you sum up Dan in words? He was a son, a little brother, a loving faithful husband, step-
father, Grand Dan, loving Uncle, and loyal friend with a heart of gold and infectious smile and
laugh.
Pallbearers were David Billings, Eric Bryan, Jabe Burnett, Cole Newton, Tucker Harbison, and
Mark Rodgers. Honorary pallbearers were Rex Burnett, Richard Burnett, Lane Duke, Rodney Robbins, Tyks Sheehan, Cliff Sheehan, Darryl Davis, Mary Vilardo, Chris Ellsworth, Jon Ellsworth, Tyler Hale, Jeff Folsom, Titus Shetler (Emily), Terrance Shetler (Kayle), Travis Shetler (Rachel), Delton Ensz (Tina), Tyler Ensz, Virginia Kidd, and Martha Kidd Barger. The family suggest contributions be made to Hospice of West Alabama, Brewersville Cemetery,
or charity of choice.
