Parole denied for Israel

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles scheduled 90 parole hearings and 29 pardon hearings for the week of Dec. 5 – 7. Among those scheduled for parole was Marengo County inmate Yahudah Israel.
A parole hearing for Israel was held Dec. 6.
Israel is serving time for a 2013 conviction and is incarcerated at the Fountain Correctional Center in Atmore. Israel was convicted for rape first degree and rape second degree and began serving time for these charges Nov. 11, 2013. He has served 10 years of an 18 year sentence.
The Board voted to deny parole with no reset date.
Speaking in support of Israel’s parole was Joe Ann Merriweather (wife) and Eleazar Merriweather (brother). Makayla Phifer of Victims of Crime and Leniency (VOCAL) and Nayla Contreras with the Victims Services Office (VSO, Attorney General’s Office) spoke against Dumas’s being paroled.
He has a minimum release date of Aug. 20, 2025.
