Giving Tuesday takes place Tuesday, Nov. 28. It is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage giving and celebrate generosity worldwide. The Demopolis City Schools Foundation would like to thank Mayor Woody Collins for proclaiming next Tuesday as Giving Tuesday for the City of Demopolis. The proclamation encourages citizens “to join together to give back to the community in any way that is personally meaningful.”
This Giving Tuesday, The Demopolis City Schools Foundation encourages the community to become part of the Demopolis Difference! The Foundation has a goal to raise $5,000, and community members can help meet and exceed that challenge by making a difference in all Demopolis classrooms. Donations given during the Giving Tuesday event go toward the Foundation’s Classroom Grants Program.
“The Demopolis City Schools Foundation is another example of a project that sets Demopolis apart from other communities. The generosity and volunteer spirit that exists in Demopolis is, in my opinion, equal to no other in Alabama,” said Demopolis Mayor Woody Collins. “Congratulations to the Foundation on another successful year, and I certainly hope that everyone will participate in Giving Tuesday.”
The Foundation has provided an easy way to take advantage of this challenge on Tuesday, Nov. 28, by donating online at www.demopolis.org under the Giving Tuesday tab. Additionally, any checks mailed by Nov. 28 will be counted in the match as well.
“We want to thank all of our donors for their gracious support and continued commitment to the Demopolis Difference; without you, our mission would not be possible. By supporting the Foundation, you are helping provide grants that encourage excellence, creativity, and innovation in our classrooms,” said Demopolis City Schools Foundation Executive Director Margaret Anne Gilchrist. “As a parent in our school system, but also as the Director, I see firsthand the positive impact our grants have on the students and our schools. We would also like to thank Mayor Collins for his support and for encouraging our city to participate in Giving Tuesday.”
