The Demopolis High School’s Tiger Arts Guild will present “Little Women” Sept. 21-23 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. The play will be performed at the Demopolis High School Auditorium.
The play is adapted from the literary classic written by Louisa May Alcott. It tells the story of the four young March sisters — tempestuous Jo, motherly Meg, shy Beth, and spoiled baby Amy — who, under the guidance of their beloved mother, struggle to keep their family going while Father is away in the Civil War.
In this beautifully dramatized adaptation of the classic novel, even as privation, illness, and sibling rivalry cast their shadows, each girl strives to find her true self.
Under the instruction of Jody Tartt, DHS Theatre teacher, students have worked tirelessly to construct the set during classes with the assistance of Scenic Designer Joey Lay from the Actor’s Charitable Theatre in Tuscaloosa.
“The cast has rehearsed since the first day of school, and we are very excited and proud of our production,” said Tartt.
The cast for the play features Caroline Davidson as Jo, Isabella Maclennan as Meg, Haley Jackson as Amy, Sophia Aplicano as Beth, Piper Roberts as Hannah, Mia Jones as Marmee, Joanna Duke as Aunt March, Shamarion Johnson as Father, Mary Jordan as Mrs. Lawrence, Ben Lindsay as Laurie, and Nathan Williams as Brooke.
Tickets for the play are $8 and are available on Gofan.com.
