Dementia Friendly Alabama (DFA) is an initiative to bring awareness and support to those living with dementia and their care partners in Alabama. They build partnerships to create communities where those living with dementia can live and thrive! One such partnership is with ATRC Aging to host Memory Cafes.
A DFA Memory Café is a relaxed social gathering held free of charge and open to anyone affected by memory loss or related cognitive changes. The experience is designed to make people living with dementia feel comfortable and successful. It’s a much-needed break and a chance to have fun for caregivers and care partners!
The Alabama Tombigbee Regional Commission, Area Agency on Aging (ATRC Aging) in conjunction with Dementia Friendly Alabama and Selma WINGS (a dementia respite program) will be hosting a free event for those living with dementia, or any form of memory loss, and their caregivers on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Batter Up Sports Grill, 507 US Hwy 80 West, Demopolis.
The theme for this event is tailgating, come dressed in your favorite team’s colors. This fun event will begin at 10:30 am and will include food, lots of laughter, music, games, and memories to keep with you forever. The event is free to attend but registration is required. To register simply call ATRC Aging 334-682-5206 or email jennifer.dailey@atrc.net.
