Demopolis Tigers fall to Jackson Aggies

The Demopolis Tigers fell to the Jackson Aggies 35-7 in a non-region home game on Aug. 31.
The Aggies got on the board first when they intercepted DHS quarterback Kevin McElroy early in the first quarter. The extra point was good, and with only two minutes gone off the clock, the Aggies had taken a 7-0 lead.
Keishawn Rowser scored the only touchdown for the Tigers with 3:40 remaining in the first quarter. The extra point kick by Jose Tellez was good, tying the game at 7-7.
The remainder of the game was all Jackson.
The next score for the Aggies came after a questionable holding call against the Tigers that put Jackson close to the goal line. The Aggies ran it in on the next play, going up 13-7 with 11:52 in the second quarter. The extra point kick was good, putting Jackson up 14-7.
At the 8:50 mark in the second quarter, and Aggie receiver was left wide open in the end zone for a passing touchdown. The PAT kick was good, making the score 21-7.
The third quarter began with a costly fumble by the Tigers that gave the Aggies the ball at the Tigers 45-yard line with 11:52 on the clock. The Tigers would get the ball back a few minutes later on an interception, but unfortunately were unable to turn it into points and punted the ball back to the Aggies with 9:27 left in the third quarter.
The Aggies found the end zone again at the 7:44 mark of the quarter. The extra point kick was good, making the score 28-7.
The last score of the game came in the fourth quarter when the Aggies found the end zone with 6:05 remaining in the fourth quarter. The PAT kick was good, giving Jackson a final score of 35-7.
With the loss, the Tigers go 1-1 on the season. This week the Tigers will travel to Selma to take on the Saints in their first region game on Sept. 8. The Tigers defeated the Saints 22-0 last season.
Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.
