The Demopolis Police Department recently received a $23,940 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) for public safety efforts. The DPD will use its grant to purchase laptop computers for patrol vehicles.
Other police departments that received grants are Clanton, Calera, Thorsby, Tallassee, Goodwater, and sheriffs’ offices in Dallas, Montgomery, and Coosa counties. The grants will be used to purchase equipment for traffic monitoring, protective gear, and defibrillators to use in first-responder call involving heart attack situations.
Gov. Kay Ivey awarded the grants from funds supplied to the state through the U.S. Department of Justice.
