The Demopolis Board of Education has hired two new coaches for the high school football team in Stephen Clements of Morgan Academy and Will Gandy of Selma High School. Both coaches will be joining recently hired head coach and athletic director Lance Tucker.
According to the Selma Times-Journal, Clements has served as the head baseball coach of Morgan Academy for the last five years. During his time with the Senators, Clements led his baseball teams to victory in over 100 games and made it to AISA semifinals each year except for in 2022.
The Selma Times-Journal quotes Clements as being “excited to be helping coach Lance Tucker at Demopolis High School, and I cannot wait to see where this program goes.”
Joining Clements at Demopolis is Selma High School’s football coach Will Gandy. Gandy comes to Demopolis after leading the Selma Saints to a 7-4 record on the season and a 4-1 region record. Gandy has led the Saints for the past four seasons. Gandy brings with him experience from Selma and from Linden High School where he was defensive coordinator for the 2018 season.
