Last Wednesday, December 21, the Linden Nursing Home was gifted with donations from the Tabernacle Lodge 183A and Robinson Delight Chapter 761 Order of the Eastern Star. Last week was the second time the Lodge has made donations to the Nursing Home, and the fourth time for the Robinson Delight Chapter.
The Tabernacle Lodge is a benevolent organization, and lodge member Rayvell Smith said the inspiration to make donations began when one member of the lodge made mention of the fact that they needed to do something to help the less fortunate around the holidays. The lodge plans to continue the tradition every year.
The two groups presented baskets of essential items to the nursing home staff to give to residents. The baskets were festively decorated and contained lotions, socks, hand sanitizers, Chapstick, and soap. Smith said the nursing home staff appreciated the gesture and the items were given to residents on the same day.
“The staff said that everything we gave them could be used and would be helpful in taking care of their residents,” said Smith.
Smith said that giving the donations made him feel good because it allowed him to make Christmas better for someone else.
“Just knowing that the Lord has blessed the lodge to the point of where we are able to give to the less fortunate, and it did not affect our personal Christmases,” said Smith. “It makes you feel good to know that you were able to do something to help someone else.”
