At its November 28 meeting, the Linden Board of Education announced that Gwendolyn Rogers has been selected as the new principal of G.P. Austin Middle School. Rogers will take over from Walter Hampton who recently resigned from the position.
Rogers currently serves as the Mayor of Linden, and has been a long-time counselor and system testing coordinator for the Linden City School System.
Under old business, Superintendent Dr. Timothy Thurman said that approval on the new heating and cooling units for Linden Elementary and G.P. Austin has been received from the state. The school system is now in the process of working with a local business to install the units. Thurman said they are going to order the units, but they are not expected to arrive until next summer.
