During a called meeting of the Demopolis Board of Education on October 7, the board approved two contracts and bids for the tennis courts.
The first contract approved was a contract between DCS and James B. Warren. Warren is an assistant in the technology department, and will help maintain the 2,500 devices (tablets, chrome books) across the school district. Warren will work with two others to keep the devices updated. He will work for $20 dollars an hour not to exceed 24 hours a week until December.
Bids for the tennis court and the baseball dugout opened on October 6, and the school received three bids on the tennis courts. The low bid for the tennis courts came from Littleton Electric at $109,517. H&M Construction sent in the only bid for the baseball dugout project.
The board approved an agreement between DCS and the Demopolis Police Department. In the agreement, the DPD agreed not to charge the school system for football security unless officers are needed at away games. For basketball games, the school system and the DPD will split the costs for security.
Under Consent items, the board approved the volleyball team to stay overnight if they qualify for the regional tournament in Montgomery, and the state tournament.
Other items approved by the Board:
