At the June 7 Linden City Council meeting, the Council heard from Cara Stallman, a grant writer, who will help the Council find and apply for grants.
Stallman writes and manages grants for cities, counties, towns, and water authorities. She has worked for 16 years in the field and she is a private company. Locally, she works for Choctaw County, Sumter County, Perry County, and Dallas County.
“My heart is really in the Black Belt communities and helping with community block grants that include sewer, water, and road projects,” said Stallman.
The Council unanimously approved Stallman to research and apply for grants on behalf of Linden with her compensation coming from the grants that are funded.
The Council approved the recognition of Juneteenth as a holiday in Linden. City Hall will close and employees will have the holiday off.
The Linden City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m.
