Charles Jones Jr appointed as Acting President of Bishop State Community College

Demopolis resident and City Councilman Charles Jones, Jr has been named the Acting President of Bishop State Community College. Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker made the announcement last Friday, June 3. Jones’ tenure begins immediately.
Jones currently serves as Regional External Affairs and Workforce Manager for the Alabama Community College System. He has served for more than a decade in education in Alabama, beginning his teaching career in 2008 in building construction and also holding other roles with the Demopolis City School System. He joined the ACCS in 2017.
A community college alum, Jones earned an Associate of Applied Science from Shelton State Community College in Machine Tool Technology, a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education from The University of Alabama, and a Post-Baccalaureate Certification in Construction Management from Louisiana State University.
A presidential search for a permanent president at Bishop State was posted and announced on May 9, and will remain open for 30 days as required by state law. At the conclusion of the search process, a permanent president will be named immediately after.
