At the March 31 Marengo County BOE meeting, K-12 Instructor Cathy Seale provided the board with her monthly update of activity in the three county schools.
Her first topic of discussion was the FAFSA completion report. As of March 23, Marengo County Schools are ranked top in the state for FAFSA completion at 95 percent. At the time of the meeting, Seale said the school system is 3 students short of 100 percent, but that they were working to get those last students to completion.
The Betabox Skills on Wheels Learning Lab has completed visits to Sweet Water, Marengo, and A.L. Johnson, and all visits were deemed successful. Seale said they are already planning return visits for fall 2022.
The three county schools have a 76 percent completion rate in the Ready to Work: Alabama Certified Worker program. ALJ has 12/15 completed, MHS has 12/19 completed, and SWHS has 31/38 completed.
Seale reported that about 42 students have signed up for summer learning classes. Seale is currently working to get materials in place for vocabulary, comprehension, SPIRE program materials, and math curriculum. The next steps will be to finalize a list of teachers, bus drivers, nurses, secretaries, custodians, CNP.
Items approved by the board:
- Approved financial reports for February
- Approved bank statement reconciliations for February
- Approved 2022 Summer Learning Supplement Pay Scale
