In a special called meeting on Tuesday, March 29, the Demopolis City Council officially canvassed the results of the 2022 results for the five mil ad valorem tax. The election was held last Tuesday at the Civic Center.

City Clerk Sam Gross reported the results of the election as 406 for the tax, 33 against, and one provisional ballot that will not count towards the results. The provisional voter was not a registered voter in Marengo County, but rather Hale County.

It was also reported that there was a lower number of voters this year due to inclement weather the day of the election.

The Council unanimously accepted the results of the election.
