The Demopolis City Schools Foundation held its Annual Donor Celebration the evening of March 1 and celebrated its 29th year of being in existence. Donors were able to see some of the grants awarded in 2021 at different stations, as well as, hear from Demopolis High School teacher Mr. Mike Duran regarding the grant he received along with fellow teacher Mrs. Kelly Gandy. Mr. Duran and Mrs. Gandy’s grant STEM Practical Application-Drone Racing Competition focuses on building, coding, and piloting drones for competition against other high schools in our state. Demopolis is one of only four schools in the state participating in the Trydrones/LocoRobo program.
The Foundation has awarded over one million dollars in grants since its inception. “We appreciate the continued support of our donors and this community, we affectionately call the Demopolis Difference. We were excited to recognize and celebrate our donors and allow them to experience some of our grants firsthand.” -Ashley Coplin, Executive Director, DCSF
