Marengo High Lady Tracksters claim 1-A Section 2 Track Championship

Marengo High Lady Tracksters claimed the 1-A Section 2 Track Championship that was held on April 23, 2021 and April 24, 2021 at Northridge High School in Tuscaloosa, AL. The team had a combined total score of 167 points, Holy Spirit second with 106 points, Linden third with 98 points, and A.L. Johnson fourth with 56 points.
Quanesha Bruno finished second and picked up a silver medal in the 100 meters, a gold medal for first place in the long jump. Tykeisha Shamburger picked up a silver medal for second place in the 400, finished fourth in the 100 and 200 meters. Kirsten Blanco picked up a gold medal for first place in the triple jump and a silver medal for second place in the 100 hurdles. Jada Greene picked up a bronze medal for third place in the long jump. Shuntae January picked up three gold medals for first place in the shot put, discus, and javelin. Danae Miller picked up a silver medal for second place in the shot put.
Ke’Shantianna Dizon picked up a bronze medal for third place in the discus and came in fourth in the long jump. Delayla Poellnitz picked up a silver medal in javelin for second place and 5th place in the shot put. Briana Harris finished in 4th place in the 400 meters. Roubie Myrthil picked up a silver medal for second place in the triple jump. The 4×100 meter relay team picked up a silver medal and qualified for state. The 4×400 relay team picked a silver medal for second place and the 4×800 relay team picked up a bronze medal for third place.
The following Marengo Lady Tracksters will compete at the 1A State Track Meet Friday, April 30, 2021 and Saturday, May 1, 2021 in Cullman Alabama: Quanesha Bruno, TyKeisha Shamburger, Kirsten Blanco, Jada Greene, Shauntae January, Danaea Miller, Ke’Shantianna Dixon, and Delayla Poellnitz. The Marengo High School Lady Tracksters have won the section CHAMPS for a number of years starting with 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2021. Coach Miller, Coach McCarty, and Coach Myrthil would like to thank all of these young ladies for their hard work and dedication. They would also like to thank the parents and supporters of the Marengo High School Lady Tracksters.
