Businesses across the state are discussing how to move forward once the mandate ends and what their requirements will be for customers. Some businesses in Marengo County have already decided what their plans are for after April 9.
Papa’s Food in Linden has never publicly posted a mask requirement, and customers have had the option of wearing a mask or not. That policy will not change once the mandate is lifted.
“We will continue as we are,” said store manager Jennifer Pruett. “We will not require people to wear masks.”
The Demopolis Public Library has had a strict face mask policy in place during the pandemic. It has not set anything concrete as of yet. Library director Kathy Owings said the library will talk to the city and see what it plans to do. She said the library will likely follow the same standards.
“I’m afraid that if we try to mandate masks when they’re not mandated statewide, we’ll get some pushback,” said Owings. “So we’re just going to wait and see what the city is going to decide about that.”
Simply Delicious Bakery & Eatery has required masks throughout the pandemic and said that they will follow Gov. Ivey’s protocol and will follow whatever she recommends.
