Sweet Water rolls over Marengo

The Sweet Water Bulldogs had no problems against the Marengo Panthers Friday night, winning 35-8.
The Bulldogs scored first when Jaland Lewis Horton ran the ball in from 2-yards out for the touchdown. Michael Alan Cole’s PAT was no good, leaving Sweet Water with a 6-0 lead with 3:44 left in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs scored again with 0:56 left in the first quarter when quarterback Walker Thompson completed a pass to Jaden Lewis for a 40-yard touchdown. Thompson completed a pass to Jaland Lewis Horton for the two-point conversion, and the Bulldogs increased their lead to 14-0.
Sweet Water found the end zone again with 9:23 left in the second quarter when Jaland Lewis Horton ran 39-yards for the score. Cole’s PAT was good, and the Bulldogs led 21-0. A few seconds later, Thompson completed a pass to Lashon Young for a 34-yard touchdown with 9:00 left in the second quarter. Cole’s extra point was good, and the Bulldogs led 28-0.
It wasn’t until late in the third quarter that Sweet Water scored again on a 30-yard run by Jaland Lewis Horton. The PAT was good, and the Bulldogs upped their score to 35-0.
The Panthers finally go on the board late in the fourth quarter when they intercepted a pass by Nate Norris and ran it in for a touchdown. Marengo’s two-point conversion attempt was good, making the final score for the game 35-8.
The Sweet Water Bulldogs (1-1) will be hosting the Fruitdale Pirates next Friday at Nolan-Atkins Stadium. The Panthers (0-2) will have an open date next week.
