Donald Henry Harrison, age 67, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020.

Born in Demopolis on Oct. 25, 1952, Don graduated from the University of Alabama and worked as a software analyst in Okaloosa County for 22 years. After earning his Masters Degree at the University of West Florida, Don worked in mental health counseling for 13 years. During this time, he served time as a president of the board of directors for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Gulf Coast, and founded the Bindu Institute in Navarre, Florida, in 2014.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Jean Harrison; brother, James Harrison; and step-mother, Helen Harrison.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Angela Stone Harrison; his father, Henry Harrison; a daughter, Katherine Harrison (Tim Cunningham); a son, Matthew Harrison; and his sister, Sandra Buck (Buddy).

A memorial service honoring Don Harrison’s life will be arranged for close friends and family members.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to the nurses and staff at Covenant Hospice for the love and care given to Don during his time of illness.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Don’s name to the American Cancer Society.
