Drivers through downtown Demopolis will be routed to a specific street over the coming days as construction will be underway along the railroad tracks in the area.

According to Demopolis Projects Manager Mike Baker, Norfolk Southern will barricade the railroad crossings throughout downtown beginning Thursday, April 16 at approximately 6:30 a.m. Drivers in the downtown area will need to take the detour along Cedar Avenue until the work is completed. The project is expected to be finished by Tuesday, April 21.

The work being done will include repaving and smoothing the crossings.
